The Morton Arboretum is an internationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to the planting and conservation of trees. Its 1,700 acres hold collections of more than 4,000 kinds of trees, shrubs, and other plants from around the world.
Situated on the rolling Valparaiso moraine and bisected by the East Branch of the DuPage River, The Morton Arboretum is planned and planted to nurture and display trees and shrubs in environments conducive to their growth.
The Arboretum offers extensive educational programming for all ages, conducts leading research on tree health and tree improvement, breeds and introduces hardy and disease-resistant trees and shrubs for distribution throughout the Midwest, and presents nature-related activities year-round for people of all ages and interests.
The Arboretum was founded in 1922 by Morton Salt magnate Joy Morton. Arboretum grounds offer an oasis of magnificently tended trees, 16 miles of hiking trails, 9 miles of roads, and 900 acres of natural areas including the prototypical, restored 100-acre Schulenberg Prairie.
Also on the grounds are the Visitor Center and Plant Clinic, The Arboretum Store, Ginkgo Restaurant and Café, five-acre Children’s Garden, one-acre Maze Garden, an environmentally-friendly parking lot, and a paved walking trail around restored Meadow Lake.
The Arboretum houses the renowned Sterling Morton Library, devoted to the literature and art of botany and horticulture.

When we opened our studio in Elk Grove, California, our first high school senior model was Shari. At that time, I told her that she would be a lovely bride and I would love to take her wedding pictures someday. Going forward 6 years, Shari found her prince charming. On our previous post, we did Shari and Grant’s engagement session at Old town Coloma, CA.
Their wedding was well planned and organized. Shari was a calm and beautiful bride…(just how I imagined)…which made it easy to photograph. We had planned to do a first glance of Shari and Grant at Sun City Roseville Golf Course. At their first glance, Shari and Grant smiled…then laughed… and hugged each other, but no tears. Grant was stunned when he saw Shari for the first time in her wedding gown. For the most part the weather cooperated. However, when we were taking the pictures of the wedding party, it started to rain. So we went inside the Sun City Roseville Golf Course club house to continue the pictorials. Their ceremony was at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Roseville, California. The speaker gave a Bible based talk for the role of a husband and wife in God’s marital arrangement.
The reception was held at Maidu Community Center in Roseville California. I really enjoyed the food and the cake! One of the guests suprised them with her violin and played the classic Pachelbel Canon D . Then they danced the night away. But I couldn’t leave them without taking my last shot at the Maidu Community Center’s lobby. It looked like they were in a beautiful cruise ship.
